If you thought iced tea only came in bottles at the supermarket, think again. You can make it yourself!
Step 1: Boil the kettle and in the meantime, add your 5 tea bags to your jug.
Step 2: Fill the jug with the boiling water approx. 1/3 of the way up. Leave to steep for 5-6 minutes, gently stirring occasionally.
Step 3: This is where you can add 2 teaspoons of honey if you already know you prefer a sweeter tea drink.
Step 4: Fill the remaining space in the jug up with fresh cold water and add ice to the jug.
Step 5: Finish with a sprinkling of chopped fruit and serve.
See, we told you it couldn’t be simpler!
Obviously, one of our favourite iced tea recipes is going to be for mint iced tea. And it’s heavenly for the summer.
For this recipe, you will need:
Step 1: Boil the kettle and again, add your 5 mint tea bags to your jug.
Step 2: When boiled, fill the jug approx. 1/3 with hot water and allow your tea bags to steep for 8-10 minutes for full Moroccan mint flavour.
Step 3: As your tea bags are steeping, add 2 tablespoons of caster sugar to the jug. You can use granulated sugar here if you need to but caster sugar creates an even sweeter and smoother finish. Also, add a squeeze of honey here.
Step 4: Prepare your lemons. Slice all lemons. Then squeeze the juice of 2 lemons and save the remaining slices for garnish. Here, you can also add your mint to the jug.
Step 5: After steeping, fill the jug nearly to the top with fresh cold water. Finish with lots of ice and serve with an extra sprig or two of fresh mint.
If you fancy something alcoholic but love your iced tea, this one’s for you.
For this recipe, you will need:
Step 1: Boil the kettle and add your refreshing lemon verbena tea bags to your jug.
Step 2: Fill the jug with boiling water to approx. 1/3 full. Then, leave your lemon tea bags to infuse in the water for 6-8 minutes with an occasional stir. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to counteract all the citrus.
Step 3: Prepare your lemons and oranges. Slice all fruits and squeeze the juice from 3 lemons, leaving the remaining lemons and oranges in slices.
Step 4: Fill the remainder of the jug up with fresh cold water and add lots of ice.
Step 5: Add your chosen gin or vodka to the mix and stir. Finally adding the slices of lemon and orange and stirring well, pushing the fruits down into the bottom of the jug for full infusion. Serve and enjoy.
